Knebworth is the next village down the B197 from us, five minutes from the door, so it is one of the shortest runs we make. It splits into two halves and they need completely different work. The village either side of the station went up mostly between the wars and through the 1950s and 60s, so consumer units and rewires come round here on schedule.
Old Knebworth up the hill is another matter. Lutyens left his mark on this village and the houses show it, along with the estate cottages and the larger period properties out towards the park. Solid walls, lath and plaster and original joinery do not forgive a rushed chase, so we set the cable runs out before anything is cut.
Day to day it is the usual mix. Extra sockets, kitchen and garden lighting, car chargers on the drive, fault calls and landlord EICRs. Being this close means we can normally get to an emergency in Knebworth faster than almost anywhere.
