Clear, honest safety reports for homeowners, landlords and businesses

Electrical Safety Certificates (EICR)

An EICR is a full inspection of an electrical installation, circuit by circuit. Landlords across Hertfordshire need one at least every five years by law. They need a new one for each new tenancy where the last is out of date. Buyers, sellers and businesses ask for them too.

Older property often throws up more than people expect, so we test everything and photograph what matters. You get a report you can actually read, with anything coded C1 or C2 explained in plain English and a fixed price to put it right. There is no pressure at all to use us for the remedial work.

Safety certificates questions, answered

How much does an EICR cost?

It depends on the size of the property and the number of circuits, so we price each one after a couple of questions on the phone. One fixed price agreed before we book it in.

How often do landlords need an EICR?

At least every five years. You must give a copy to your tenants and to the council if they ask. If the report says sooner, that shorter date is the one that counts.

What happens if my property fails?

A report is coded rather than pass or fail. C1 and C2 items have to be put right and F1 items investigated. You get a clear price for the work and you are free to use anyone you like to do it.

How long does an EICR take?

Two to four hours for a typical home, longer for a larger property or a commercial unit. Power goes off in stages while we test, so we plan it around you.
