Letchworth was the first garden city in the world and the housing still shows it. Whole streets went up in the early 1900s to one plan, with Arts and Crafts cottages, wide grass verges and long back gardens. Broadway and Station Road are the spine of it.

Houses of that age are usually on their second or third set of wiring. We find old boards, far too few sockets and lighting circuits carrying much more than they were ever built for. Rewires, part rewires and new consumer units make up most of our work here.

A lot of the town sits in a conservation area, so what you can change outside is limited. Inside is a different matter. We keep any external work discreet, run cables out of sight where we can and leave the character of the house alone.
