Whole-house rewires planned around you and agreed room by room

Full & Partial House Rewires

Many homes in Hertfordshire were built more than 40 years ago, meaning any original wiring is well past its working life and does not meet safety standards. If your fuse box still holds old rewireable fuses, the house is probably due a rewire. The same goes for cable behind a socket that looks rubber or fabric covered.

It is the biggest electrical job a home ever gets, so we plan it properly. We walk the house with you room by room before a cable is lifted, agreeing where every socket, switch and light should sit. Floors and furniture are covered and walls are chased cleanly. We fill and make good where we can, though a rewire does normally need a plasterer afterwards and dust keeps settling for days once we have gone, so we tell you that up front rather than let it come as a surprise. The whole installation is tested, certified and notified to Building Control for you. We rewire across Stevenage, Hitchin, Letchworth, Harpenden, St Albans and the rest of Hertfordshire.

What's included

Planned room by room

We agree every socket, switch and light position with you before work starts, so nothing lands somewhere you did not want it.

Your home protected

Dust sheets down, floors and furniture covered, walls filled and made good where we can, and each room left clean on completion.

New fuse box included

A modern consumer unit with surge protection and a safety switch on every circuit, clearly labelled.

Tested and certified

A full Electrical Installation Certificate, with the Building Control notification handled by us. This is something that you would only get from a fully qualified electrician and is often required for insurance purposes and when you sell your property.

Rewire questions, answered

How much does a full rewire cost?

Every house is different, so we price each rewire after seeing the property. You get one fixed price in writing before any work starts, so nothing grows on the invoice.

How long does a rewire take?

One to two weeks for a typical three-bedroom house, depending on the size and whether you are living in it. We will discuss our plan with you before the work begins so that you can plan ahead.

Can we stay in the house while you rewire?

Usually yes. We work room by room and keep the power on overnight wherever we can. Most jobs can be completed quicker when the house is empty. We can discuss all options with you when pricing up the rewire, so that you can make the best decision for you.

How do I know my house needs rewiring?

Most houses older than 40 years old still on their original wiring will need updating to meet current safety regulations. The usual signs are a fuse box with old rewireable fuses, fabric or rubber coated cable, warm or loose sockets and only one or two sockets a room. An EICR will tell you for certain. We will never push a rewire you do not need.
